Black House Redondo Beach is a martial arts gym at 2416 Artesia Boulevard in Redondo Beach, California. Opened to the public in 2010, the gym offers Brazilian jiu-jitsu, BOLT Wrestling, Muay Thai and children’s classes. Its facility includes two large training mat areas and changing rooms. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Kenny Johnson is the Black House head coach and founder of BOLT Wrestling, a system that applies wrestling techniques to wrestling, jiu-jitsu and MMA. The jiu-jitsu program includes gi and no-gi classes with rolling and self-defense instruction. Carlos Alves and Matheus de Moraes are the named BJJ coaches; Matheus also holds a judo black belt. The kids program separates ages 3–6 with Matheus from ages 7–11 with Carlos. Muay Thai classes with Leo Souza and Coach Bruna include bag work, Thai pads, partner drills and sparring. The published timetable also lists kids Muay Thai and a women’s striking class.
